ANAMBRA State Government in collaboration with Generations for Peace Foundation have called for nominations for 2018 Hall of Fame Awards scheduled for September 8.

The event was intended to recognise as well as celebrate Ndi-Anambra, who impacted positively on lives of citizens through philanthropy and community development projects.

At a news conference to mark the official opening of nominations, Bonaventure Enemali, the commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, said it was important to honour those that had been supporting the state government through humanitarian services in rural communities.

“No fewer than 21 persons will be honoured with Philanthropic Order of Merit Award to recognise their contributions to the society, as well as encourage other well-to-do individuals to invest in rural development projects,’’ Enemali said.

The commissioner, however, said the objective of these criteria were to facilitate nominations, but the final decision on who to bestow an award rested on Governor Willie Obiano.

Emeka Anyadubalu, the executive director, Generations for Peace Foundation, thanked Obiano for creating an enabling business environment to grow the state’s economy.

Anyadubalu said the event would be held on World Charity Day to encourage the spirit of philanthropy.

He explained that 21 persons would be selected from 21 local government areas of the state, as well as five organisations/institutions for the awards.

He, then, said the nominations would close on June 30 at 12 midnight.

“For an individual to submit a nomination, the person should visit www.anambrahalloffameawards.org and register as a member for the nominator’s details to be accessed,” Anyadubalu added.
