Anambra Communities to receive 3rd Phase of N20m Choose Your Project Initiative

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra has announced the 3rd phase of the N20 Million Community Choose Your Project Initiative.

The initiative would be implemented across the 177 communities in the state from the beginning of 2019.

According to Obiano, the first and second phases of the project have been successfully implemented by ensuring infrastructure development.

Some of the projects include construction of civic centres, lock-up shops and provision of water boreholes

The governor, who represented by Nkem Okeke, his deputy, announced this during the inauguration ceremony of Nri Town Hall.

He also pledged that more roads would be constructed in the state next year.

He described as alarming, the erosion menace witnessed in the state, saying that a large percentage of Anambra landmass was currently threatened by it and that his government was spending huge amount of resources in tackling it.

The governor had earlier commended Nri Community over their successful completion of the town hall, while stressing the need to bring people together to institute development in their communities.

“Every community expects government to tackle infrastructure development, but government alone cannot do everything,” Obiano said.

 

While calling on other communities to emulate such gestures, he stressed the need for stakeholders and indigenes of various communities to come together and develop their town.

Kelvin Obiegbunam, president-general of Nri town, had earlier noted that the occasion was to celebrate distinguished icons of Nri community, who came together to support the building of the edifice the ‘Nri Unity Hall’.

He thanked Ema Enemuo and Charles Tabansi for coordinating the construction of the hall.

He also thanked Governor Obiano for his support toward the building and equipping of the two new health center as well as installation of street lights across the town.

The president-general, then, commended Nri Vigilance Group on winning a recent award as `the best security outreach’ in the state by the governor.

Present at the occasion were some eminent personalities Uju Okeke, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Ikeobi Ejiofor, Transition Committee chairman, Anaocha Local Government.
