THE Anambra State Government has lauded the appointment of Mr. Francis Akubueze as the new Clerk of the House of Representatives.

A statement by C. Don Adinuba, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, disclosed that Governor Willie Obiano has written a congratulatory letter to Akubueze, an indigene of Alor in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“The new clerk was appointed purely on merit,” the commissioner quoted Governor Obiano as saying.

“He is therefore bound to excel the way the government and people of Anambra State have in various areas.”

As the anchor of the engine-room of the House of Representatives, the newly-appointed Clerk of the House is charged with the ennobling role of overseeing the effective working of the inner structure of the legislature, which is the pivotal key of any democracy.

According to Adinuba, Akubueze’s new leadership role brings to mind the outstanding performance of national legislators from Anambra State like the first Senate President Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe;  the second Senate President, Dr Nwafor Orizu; former Senate President Chuba Okadigbo, and former Speakers of the House of Representatives Chief Edwin Ume-Ezeoke and Chief Agunwa Anaekwe.

The Clerk has doubtless a rich tradition of legislative excellence, which should inspire him to excel more and more, the Anambra State government noted.

The commissioner also disclosed that the governor commended the National Assembly Service Commission for recognizing Akubueze as a star civil servant.
