Anambra CP tasks students on hard work, offers cash, scholarship

THE Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Mr Aderemi Adeoye, has admonished students to be disciplined, focused and serious with their studies to be good leaders of tomorrow.

Adeoye gave the advice when he received some staff and students of Total Child Secondary School, Awka, in his office, on Tuesday.

The staff and students were at the command’s headquarters on an excursion.

Adeoye advised the students  to follow the career path  of subjects they had passion for, urging that they should not yield to pressure by peers or  anyone else in making career choices.

He said that the Nigeria Police Force provided wide career opportunities for youths across every field of training.

He urged them to be selflessness and devoted to service to humanity, irrespective of their career choices.

“You are the future of our nation. Irrespective of the profession you want to go into, you must know how to serve others.

“Do not preoccupy yourself with the idea of becoming a lawyer, doctor, economist, politician or others; focus on your studies, work hard to make excellent results.

“Go for the courses you have passion for, do not be distracted by peer pressure or try to impress anybody.

“It is natural to do well in courses that deal with subjects you have passion for,” he said.

Adeoye announced cash prizes of N200,000 and N100,000 for the school’s best JS3 and JS2 students, respectively,

He also said that he would give a year scholarship to the school’s best student in the forthcoming Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination.

Responding, the Proprietor of the school, Mrs Joy Udoh, described the excursion as rich and eye-opening.

She thanked the commissioner of police for the kind gesture.

Udoh said that the visit  was aimed at acquainting the students with work environment.

The Head Girl of the school, Miss Ifeoma Offozue,  thanked the  commissioner of police for the  admonition, and promised that the students would do their best.(NAN)
