Anambra government assures of security in Nnewi, environs

The Anambra State government has assured it will beef up security at Nnamdi Azikiwe College of Health Sciences, Okofia Otolo, Nnewi.
Governor Willie Obiano gave the assurance when he visited ongoing construction work at the College road, Nnewi.
Inspecting the road project, the governor said the road when completed would have every necessary facility, including streetlights to ease traffic congestion in the area.
Obiano said that his administration would continue to refurbish dilapidated roads in Nnewi and would complete the College Road before commencement of next rainy season.
Marcel Ifejiofor, the commissioner for Works, said the 4.19 kilometres road would bring to nine roads, the present administration embarked.
John Arachie, the contractor handling the project, explained that the construction was in three segments; and one segment was 2.1 kilometres leading from Awka Etiti to Isseke.
Arachie observed that one major problem with the road was flooding, assuring that they would deploy sophisticated materials to ensure adequate sustainability.
Merie Onyejekwu, the special adviser Budget, noted that Obiano, in collaboration with the federal government had intervened in the deadly Nnewi erosion menace.
He said that about N6.7 billion had been invested to control the erosion.
Virgy Etiaba, a former governor of Anambra State, re-assured of her support to the governor, saying Nnewi would always be part of his success story.
