THE Anambra State House of Assembly has on Tuesday passed the bill to establish the Anambra State Information and Communication Technology (ICT) law.

The Majority Leader, Nnamdi Okafor, representing Awka South 1 Constituency, explained that the bill would incubate and deploy e-governance strategy for effective management of ICT in the state.

Okafor added that the bill would facilitate the construction and equipping of ICT laboratories across the state to ensure that the state’s website and its applications were constantly updated.

According to him, after scaling the second reading, the Speaker referred it to House Committee on ICT for further scrutiny.

At the end of its deliberations, they proposed some amendments, including the provision of detailed table of contents and its re-phrasing from `Information and Communication Technology’ to read “Anambra State ICT bill’.
