GOVERNOR Willie Obiano has re-inaugurated 11-man committee for Anambra State Oil and Gas Department. The committee was first constituted and inaugurated in 2015 under the leadership of the late Emmanuel Egboga. The death of Egboga prompted Obiano to reconstitute the committee by appointing another chairman.
The committee members are Frank Edozie, chairman, Theresa Obiekezie, commissioner for Tertiary and Technical Education, Sunny Okoye, the managing director, Orient Petroleum Ltd.
Others include Marcel Ifejiofor, the commissioner for Works; Charles Ofoegbu; Arinze Agbim; Gibson Okeke; Ike Nwobodo; Aloy Attah; Emma Offor and Patrick Igwebuike.
Inaugurating the committee at Aguleri, the governor said the committees’ terms of reference are as follows: “To help the state to develop world-class Oil and Gas blueprint, to promote and sustain cordial rapport between Anambra State Government and Federal Ministries, Department and Agencies, to attract and keep record of all investors in the state Oil and Gas among others.” He gave the committee six months to achieve the terms of reference.
Obiano urged them to oversee the activities of the Oil Company working at Ogwuikpele, Ogbaru Council Area and the Orient Petroleum Ltd.
He urged the committee to deploy their wealth of experience in procuring operating licence, to enable the state to operate effectively as an oil producing state.
The governor commended the performance of the former chairman in getting Anambra to be listed as an Oil producing state and tasked the new committee to intensify their efforts in that regard.
Solo Chukwulobelu, the secretary to the State Government, noted the committee was important as Oil and Gas constitute a major pillar of the economic blueprint of the present administration.
He added that it was reconstituted for greater efficiency.
Edozie thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve the state, promising that with reconstitution of the committee, they would deliver.
