OSITA Chidoka, one of the Huber aspirants in the forthcoming Anambra election, has said that State deserves a government with a conscience and sense of responsibility towards the people and not a carefree and imprudent administration that lacks the presence of mind and capacity to provide the desired quality of leadership in the state.
The former aviation minister who is contesting on the platform of the United Progressive Party, UPP, stated this while commissioning his campaign offices in Orumba North and South Local Government Areas of the state, noting that Anambra no longer has a place for a government that cannot firmly stand for and defend the people when the occasion demands.
“Our people have had enough. Ndi Anambra cannot continue to be under a government without a conscience and a sense of responsibility towards the people; a government that has over time failed to stand up for the people when the occasion demands, yet continues with impunity. Our people are our greatest assets and deserve a government that upholds their interests and values”, he said while praying for the victims of the Ozubulu killing.
Chidoka said the time has come for the people to stand up and use the November election to redirect the course of governance in the state by electing a person with proven character, capacity and experience in public service as well as genuine commitment to the people, adding that that is why he is in the race.
While interacting with his supporters, Chidoka lamented the level of youth unemployment in the area but assured them that he has already designed a micro-financing system to empower hard working youth of Anambra state immediately he is elected into office. He said the scheme is part of his larger economic empowerment project that will ensure that the youth in Anambra are directly empowered to establish and create wealth in their respective endeavors.
He further assured that he will run an all-inclusive government that directly impacts on the welfare of the ordinary people, with a cardinal agenda of redirecting the resources of the state to ensure the ordinary people are the ultimate beneficiaries.
At the opening of the campaign office in Umunze in Orumba South local government, a community leader in the area, Ichie Nwagboso Onyeagba commended Chidoka for being on the side of the people at all times. He particularly applauded him for his boldness in speaking out for the people as well as the roles he played in ensuring the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, at a time other leaders from the South East were afraid to take a stand.
Ichie Onyeagba said the people are aware that Chief Chidoka played that role because of his commitment to the Igbo spirit of brotherliness which is now largely lacking among Igbo leaders. He later led other elders in the area to offer prayers for Chief Chidoka’s success at the polls.
