THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Anambra has cleared three of the 13 private security companies allegedly operating without certification.
The command’s Spokesman, Mr Edwin Okadigbo, disclosed this in a statement issued in Awka and made available to newsmen on Tuesday.
He stated that the security outfits included St. Christopher Security, Accurate Security and Halogen Security.
He explained that they were cleared after they were found to have perfected their operational documents in the state.
According to the statement, the State Commandant of the corps, Mr Isdore Chikere, warned unregistered private security outfits to be mindful of the implications of their unlawful activities.
It added that the command would stop at nothing to clear the state of illegal private security outfits, especially with the 2023 General Elections around the corner.
It commended the efforts of registered Private Guard Companies in intelligence gathering.
It advised prospective private security operators to ensure that they met the legal reprocedure before taking off.
The command’s spokesman further stated that the remaining security outfits would be charged to court.
“Registering and running a private security company in Nigeria demands strict compliance with the laid down rules and regulations.
“The slightest departure from the established regulations could lead to the deregistration of the company or revocation of licence to operate,” he stated.
Chikere advised prospective companies to engage the services of legal practitioners to assist them with issues of regulatory compliance and filling of annual returns and report with the appropriate agencies. (NAN)
