C. Don Adinuba, commissioner for information and public enlightenment, says Anambra State is determined to partner any organisation ready to promote business in Anambra.
Adinuba said this when the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, NLRC, Enugu zone, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Awka, to intimate him of their forthcoming Lottery awareness summit in Anambra.
The commissioner said that the state would partner with the commission to encourage people to patronise them.
He said that the state would not only encourage the commission but would protect them.
“We cannot only encourage but protect the commission; that is why we have investments and protection agency,” the commissioner said.
Adinuba described Anambra as the fastest growing economy, after Lagos State.
He stressed that the state government was developing a 50-year development plan that would make it compete with the very best in the entire world.
“Anambra is a peace-loving state. We are very proud of the level of harmony in the state.
“So, we are welcoming you with open arms, you will never regret investing in the state,” he said.
Christian Madubuko, commissioner for commerce, Trade and industry, said that Lottery business could not thrive without standardising the ethics and norms of the business to promote transparency.
Madubuko, while noting that Anambra was the safest state in Nigeria and that the state would promote their work here.
“The state can do whatever it can to support the commission,’’ Madubuko said.
Earlier in an address, Anagam Ononuju, zonal coordinator, National Lottery Regulatory Commission, said the commission was in the state to intimate the commissioner on their plan to hold awareness summit.
Ononuju said that Enugu Zonal office of NLRC covers, Enugu, Anambra and Benue states.
She said that the proposed Lottery awareness summit in Anambra state will hold sometime in July.
“The purpose of the summit is to create awareness on potential of Lottery in economic empowerment and development in the South East region, especially Anambra State,’’ Ononuju stressed.
The coordinator noted that prior to the establishment of the Commission, Lottery business had been a fraud and denied the country of enjoying many benefits.
She notes: “with our efforts, the commission has brought sanity, which has invariably been promoting establishment of standards and regulatory frame work’’.
The managing director, Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection, Agency, ANSIPPA, Jide Ikeakor said that a lot of people misunderstood the Lottery industry, but commended the efforts of the commission in bringing sanity into the system.
Ikeakor said: “ the state looks forward to many gaming coming into the state’’.
He, however, said that Anambra was open for the business and would continue to be open for other businesses.
Ramsy Nwafor, head, Regulation and Monitoring Enforcement Compliance, described Anambra as a state with the best array of administrators to pilot its affairs.
Nwafor commended the state government, saying with the support they had received so far and “with the synergy being articulated, Anambra gaming board will be one of the best in the country’’.
He thanked the state government for the warm reception, saying that they would report back to their Director-General that Anambra would be ready for the business.
