MR Aderemi Adeoye, Commissioner of Police in Anambra has advised corporate organisations and public offices to take deliberate measures to boost the security of their property.

Aderemi said this on Tuesday while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the recent burglary attack on the agency’s office in Awka.

The commissioner, who was reacting to cases of burglary in some offices, said management should ensure that there were guards who would work interchangeably all day as well as install security gadgets including CCTV.

He said the Police would continue to provide patrol surveillance which was the right of every citizen but rely on intelligence from the internal security arrangement to provide specific security.

“The best form of internal security is static security, there should be guards who would be on ground round the clock, at least two, so that they can work on shift basis and ensure the place is not left open.

“There should be other measures like CCTV cameras, these will provide a tip off or clue to any incident.

“Police can only and will continue to provide patrol security which is a general security arrangement but logistics is limited, so we rely on the internal arrangement of these organisations to provide specific security,” he said.

Mrs Joy Mbachi, State Correspondent of NAN in Awka thanked the CP for the cooperation for the audience and called for continued collaboration.

Mbachi said the Police and other security agencies should take the security situation around Government House more seriously and intensify their patrol in the area.(NAN)
