Education

THE Anambra State Government has recently announced a series of measures aimed at improving education in the state. Effective February 17, 2025, the government will be cracking down on truancy and hawking during school hours.

According to the announcement made by Shedrack Azubuike, Mayor of Orumba South Council, children found hawking or loitering in uniforms during school hours will be rescued and detained until their parents are located.

This move is intended to ensure that all children attend school regularly and benefit from the state’s free education policy, which was introduced by Governor Charles Soludo.

In addition to the measures aimed at students, the government will also be taking action against teachers who are found to be absent from school during working hours. Teachers who are found loitering or in markets during school hours will be arrested, highlighting the government’s commitment to ensuring that education is taken seriously.

13th February, 2025.
