Anambra welcomes Miss Africa World

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra has called on Ndi Anambra in The Diaspora to partner with the state government in the drive to tap and market tourism potential in the state.
Obiano said this when he received Uche Umeagukwu, the Anambra-born Miss Africa World Queen in Awka, the state capital.
The governor who was represented by Sally Mbanefo, commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Art work, Culture and Tourism, said that a successful partnership with Diasporian investors would help to push the industry to international audience.
“Anambra is hub of tourism, that is why the present administration is doing everything possible to develop all its tourism centres to meet international standards,” Mbanefo said.
She emphasised that the Golden Tulip Hotel, Agulu Lake, now in the final phase of furnishing and Owerre Ezukala Cave and Waterfall that was now under construction were to upgrade and create easier access for tourists.
“They are among the projects being prioritised by the present administration to start its unparalleled boost of tourism industry in the state,’’ Mbanefo added.
Tony Ezenwaka, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Art Works, Culture and Tourism, expressed his joy over the Queen’s victory, stating that her victory was a representation of the aspiration of every Igbo man to have freedom to exercise his rights and privileges.
He added that by her victory, she had automatically become the state’s “Ambassador on Culture, Tourism and Diaspora.’’
Umeagukwu, an indigene of Uga, Aguata Local Government Area was the reigning Queen of Miss Africa World Beauty Pageantry, based in California and champion of the campaign to grant, “out of school children access to education.’’
Meanwhile, at Uga, her home town, a grand reception was organised in her honour at the palace of Igwe Chidi Ezenwugo, the traditional ruler of the town.
Eche Ezibe, the transition committee chairman, Aguata LGA, the traditional rulers, the president generals, workers and entire people of Aguata welcomed Umeaguukwu, their daughter over her victory in the competition as the new Miss Africa World 2018 in the US.
James Umezulora, the president general, thanked God for the emergence of their daughter over all other contestants in the competition.
Umeagukwu, then, commended the Anambra government and for the honour done to her.
She urged the youths to claim their place in moving the state forward especially in the area of marketing the state’s tourism and cultural potential.
She was later conferred as Ada Di Ora Mma of Uga, by the traditional ruler.
