The Anambra State Ministry of Transport will continue to collaborate with the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, so as to ensure that Anambra remains traffic and accident-free state.

Uchenna Okafor, the commissioner for Transport, said this when he received the newly appointed state FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Andrew A Kumapayi and his accompanying officers to his Jerome Udoji office at Awka.

Kumapayi commended Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra State for his good works in state, which has made the state the best in security.

He adds that that the state was also blessed with good road network.

The commander, then, praised the commissioner for his hard work and proactive stance toward ensuring free-flow of traffic across the state, especially at Upper Iweka, in the commercial city of Onitsha.

“I have observed that there is cordial relationship between the ministry of Transport and FRSC that my late colleague, the immediate past Sector Commander, Mr Sunday Ajayi helped to build.

“Ajayi was humble, hardworking and one of the best, who left legacies that I plan to maintain; I pray the Almighty God to grant his soul eternal rest.

“Again, Anambra people are accommodating and nice. Feel free to pin point areas where the command is not doing well and we will improve our service delivery,’’ he said.

The FRSC state boss noted that the operation of Driving Schools in the state would need upgrading and regulating.

Welcoming Kumapayi to the state, Okafor highlighted that Anambra had high traffic challenges because “the state is the gateway to some states in South South, South East and North Central.

“Anambra is also transit route, second to Lagos; and in road safety it is taken seriously by Gov. Obiano,

“The ministry will work to assist and support you in ensuring an accident-free Anambra,’’ he said.

Chinelo E. Orizu, the FRSC protocol officer, thanked the commissioner for his warm reception,

Present at the meeting are Ifeoma Madukasi, the CEO/MD TRACAS; Daniel Ezeanwu, the permanent secretary; Judy Jeff Nwabueze, an aid of the commissioner; Nkiru Okonkwo, the acting director Account, and Livonia Udemba, a reverend father and HOD Admin.
