Anyanwu-Akeredolu’s Women Empowerment Train Stops at Ilaje LGA

IN FULFILLMENT to her promise to spread the Women Empowerment programme across the 18 local government areas of the state, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, wife of Governor rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, recently took the Women Empowerment Programme to Ilaje LGA of the state.

The first in edition of the programme was in June Anyanwu-Akeredolu empowered 100 women from Okitipupa LGA of the state in collaboration with the MAKE MEE ELEGANT firm. According to reports, beneficiaries of the programme in Okitipupa LGA are now in business.

The programme which is geared towards alleviating poverty and generating employment also has more than 100 women in participation.

The trainees will be exposed to various skills acquisition programme and provided with a take-off grant in any area of their business choice after the week long training.

Addressing the participants at the event, Anyanwu-Akeredolu said the programme was in line with the “Five point agenda” of the present administration in the state particularly in areas of job creation through agriculture, entrepreneurship and industrialisation. Besides, she said that the Akeredolu led administration was committed to delivering on its campaign promises.

The governor’s wife who spoke through Lilian Ozioma Adesokan, her personal assistant, urged the participants to make good use of the opportunity to better their lots and contribute to the economy of the state.

Present at the event were Aworetan Fayowole Ayanfe, the Chairman of Ilaje LGA; Temitope Abegunde Daniyan, special assistant to the wife of the governor on gender research and planning; Oluwatobi Fademi, her special assistant on media; Juliet Ogbogu, national president of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, BRECAN, the CEO of the MAKE MEE ELEGANT company and other LGA appointees.
