BREAKING NEWS, Health
–
OLUMIDE Olayomi, sole administrator of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, has said that the Council will unveil a three-day free screening exercise on cardiovascular and other health related diseases for residents of the area, in partnership with cardiology specialists from the United States of America, USA, between August 15 and 17.
On the essence of free health screening for residents, Olayomi said that the present administration in the State believes that early detection of health-related diseases will go a long way in curtailing the pace at which people die of the disease due to ignorance.
According to him, “Since heart-related diseases have been observed as one of the major causes of sudden death in recent times worldwide, early detection can help stem the tide of sudden death.”
Olayomi being a Fellow of Rockefeller Foundation, USA Leadership for Environment and Development, said the screening exercise was informed by his desire to improve healthcare delivery to residents of Apapa-Iganmu and its environs within his sphere of influence, while also aligning with Governor Ambode’s policy on improved public health.
“The health screening will be focusing on individuals who do not have immediate access to treatment of heart-related diseases”, the Council boss stated.
The Sole Administrator said that beneficiaries would be screened by the renowned Nigerian Cardiologist specialists, Dr. Olurotimi Badero, the world’s first Combined Heart and Kidney Specialist Doctor and Dr. Sabu George both of whom are based in the United States of America.
The exercise which will hold between 10am-3pm daily is supported by Betwazobia, a division of Secure Technologies Limited, USA and will be chaired by Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr. Olufemi Onanuga.
