MR Raymos Guanah, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has commended President Bola Tinubu for the appointment of Dr Dennu Otuaro as the

Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

Guanah also a former Delta Commissioner for lands surveys and urban development said this in a statement on Monday in Asaba.

He described the appointment as well deserved.

“Dr Denis Otuaro is a round peg in a round hole because he is not only grounded and knowledgeable about the issues and developmental needs of the people of the Niger Delta.

“This is because he is an active participant in the struggle, he also has the requisite educational qualifications, exposure and expertise to effectively manage the Presidential Amnesty Programme,” he said.

Guanah admonished Otuaro to see his appointment as a call to service, adding that he was convinced that Otuaro would deliver.

He advised Otuaro to always focus on the aim of establishing the office, which had to do disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration of former militants.

Guanah also advised him not to heed the call of some people who had been calling for the winding up of the programme.

He encouraged him not to undermine the issues that gave rise to the Niger Delta struggle.

Guanah added that some of issues included the alleged neglect of the Niger Delta in the provision of infrastructure, devastation and degradation of the environment by multi-national companies, were still unaddressed.

“The agitation is still there, thought in another dimension,” he said.
