THE All Progressives Congress, APC, has fixed the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting for October 31, as the APC national caucus meets on October 30, ahead of the non-elective mini convention.
Quoting a reliable source in Abuja, Daily Trust reports that at the caucus meeting, the report of Dr. Muiz Banire Constitution Review Committee, expected to be presented by the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC, will also be considered.
The date for the forthcoming convention will also be fixed, even as the resolutions at the caucus meeting is said to be ratified at the October 31, NEC meeting.
The current outlook of the party’s Board of Trustees, BoT, is expected to change, with a plan to reduce the membership and rename the organ, which is seen as the conscience of the APC.
The ruling party had postponed its convention earlier fixed for April 29, 2017, amidst several contentious issues, including the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari, paucity of funds, disaffection by some party faithful and other political intrigues.
“A new date for the convention became impossible after President Muhammadu Buhari left for the United Kingdom on a medical trip,” another source reportedly said.
