BRICKS were let flying Tuesday when the two major political parties threw mud at each other. The All Progressive Congress (APC) had accused the opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of never practicing what it preached while in the saddle of the country’s affairs.

But the PDP would not accept that, as it pushed the bucks back to the ruling party, claiming that the country has not experience any improvement since it took over the mantle of leadership.

Though it was done under a very relaxed atmosphere, the leadership of both parties never failed to make impression on the gathering.

The occasion was the launch of the book, The Big Interviews: How to get the news subjects and angles that make the headlines by Mr. Eric Osagie, immediate past Managing Director of the Sun Newspaper.

The drama started when Oshiomhole came into the hall while the keynote address was ongoing, he went straight to the PDP Chairman hugged him and exchange some banters.

He did the same with Rivers Governor, Nysome Wike as he was made to sit between the governor and his immediate predecessor, John Oyegun who was the chairman of the occasion.

Nothing in his behavior or action betrayed the much reported disagreement between him his predecessor. Neither was there any trace of disagreement between him and members of the opposition party as they joke and exchanged banters freely.

The vintage Adams Oshiomhole, APC national chairman, who never failed to make use of every opportunity given him took the first shot when he was asked to make a remark.

Though he later said all he said was intended to be a light joke, he described former presidents on the ticket of PDP of never practiced what they preached.

He cited two occasions where the former leaders appeared on a television programme and where asked on issues which they so much preached but when grilled by the host/interviewer, they were flawed.

He said they was found wanting especially on the area of corruption and population control, contrary to what they preach.

But PDP National Leader who would not allow the opportunity of right of reply to pass him bye, noted that things have not improved since the APC took over the rein of affairs in the country. – The Nation
