SEN. Ita Enang has urged Akwa Ibom youths and women to ensure that they participate massively in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) registration and revalidation exercise going on across the country.

He said this after his registration and the revalidation of his APC membership on Sunday in his hometown, Eastern Ward 2 Unit 12 in Ididep, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.

Enang, who is the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, said APC was the biggest and strongest party and was being led by the most transparent and honoured leader in Africa.

He urged all Akwa Ibom people, especially the youths and women, to come out en masse and participate in the APC registration and revalidation exercise.

He said that the registration and revalidation process was to boost the membership strength of the party and to ensure that those who were willing to join the APC got the opportunity to do so.

“I call on Ibiono Ibom people, all Akwa Ibomites, men and women, young and old, to seize the opportunity of becoming card-carrying members of our great party,” Enang said.

The presidential aide thanked the national leadership of the party for considering an Akwa Ibom son, Sen. Akpan Udoedehe, worthy and good enough to be the National Secretary of the party.

He said the appointment was an honour to Akwa Ibom and the South-South geo-political zone.

He said he was impressed with the high calibre of People`s Democratic Party (PDP) members who had registered with the APC.

“Most of them have been supporting us discreetly but they have now come out to register and that they want to make sure that government in Akwa Ibom State is rid off of PDP and the next governor of the state will be from APC,” he said.

In his remarks, Sen. Abubakar Geiri, Chairman of the APC National Membership Registration/Validation Committee in Akwa Ibom, said the process was a foundation for APC to take over the government of Akwa Ibom in 2023.

He urged Akwa Ibom people to ensure active participation in the ongoing registration and revalidation exercise.

Geiri said that President Buhari was the president of the masses and that was why he called for the revalidation of membership to enable the masses to take over the party.

He said the exercise would afford everyone the opportunity of becoming a member of the APC.

“We are particularly calling on the youths and women to come out en masse and own this party because we have almost done our own, we are on our way out and we want our sons and daughters to come and take over from us.

“The starting point is this registration,’’ he pointed out

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by the Akwa Ibom State APC Caretaker Chairman, Dr Ita Udosen, members of the party’s state Executive Council,  31 Chapter Chairmen,  among others. (NAN)
