MR Patrick-Estate Onyedum, chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has called on Anambra electorate to ensure candidates of the party are returned to fill the 30 seats in the State House of Assembly.
Onyedum, who spoke to newsmen in Awka on Wednesday, applauded Anambra voters for their support for Mr Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party on Feb. 25.
He urged them to ensure the same support to the ruling party in Anambra, APGA, by voting for all its candidates on Saturday’s House of Assembly election.
Onyedum who is the Chairman of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission, said candidates of the party were the best among those contesting with them in their various constituencies.
He described APGA as the identity of Anambra and the Igbo nation which should be supported and preserved by all lovers of good things.
According to Onyedum, APGA has given Anambra the best governance since 2006 when Mr Peter Obi came to power and the tradition of excellence continued through Chief Willie Obiano and now Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
“I want to thank all Anambra both at home and in the Diaspora who voted for Peter Obi, the first APGA governor who ran for the office of the president on the ticket of the Labour Party. He is our great son and ambassador.
“That is for the presidential election. Now back home, we have the State House of Assembly election in Anambra where APGA is the ruling party; we must support and sustain APGA which is the geese that lay the golden egg.
“APGA is not just for Anambra, it is for the Igbo nationality, the world is looking up to Anambra for the survival of the party that gave us political identity; we must not fail them and us,” he said.
Onyedum said an APGA dominated House of Assembly would enable the Soludo-led administration to enjoy the stability needed to implement his programme to transform Anambra to a liveable, secure and prosperous homeland.
According to him, “we need a stable House of Assembly and not one that could cause confusion and plunge Anambra back to the days of political and social disharmony”.(NAN)
