APGA National Chairman Ike Oye hails opening of Anambra International Airport
General News
THE National Chairman, All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Victor Ike Oye Ozokpu, has commended Gov. Willie Obiano on his landmark achievements, particularly the Anambra International Passenger/Cargo Airport, Umueri.
The airport was launched with the maiden aircraft landing on April 30, 2021.
A statement released by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Tex Okechukwu, praised the governor for such a magnificent and splendid project that took him 15 months only to accomplish without borrowing.
“This was the dream of so many past governors which ended in a fiasco. The Umueri International Airport remains a legacy project done simultaneously with other splendid worthy projects viz the Stadium and a Conference Centre at Awka of 10, 000 sitting capacity,” it said.
It applauded the governor for his astuteness and ruggedness irrespective of the mischievous activities of detractors.
The state then appealed to Ndi Anambra to continue to celebrate our Gov. `Akpokuedike’ Willie Obiano.
“This is a gigantic gateway to further economic development in Anambra State.
“It is commendable since cargoes will be landing here. This will facilitate commercial transactions and traders will no longer go outside Anambra State for their goods.
“It will also create employment for our youths, and a veritable Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, earner for Ndi Anambra,’’ the statement said.
It appealed to Ndi Anambra to help to maintain the airport and protect it from the destructive hands of hoodlums.
It advised the local community to keep an eye on the airport for it is a splendid project that has put Umueri on the world map.
The party suggested that the airport be named after Willie Obiano.
According to the statement, it will be a great honor if Ndi Anambra will reciprocate this wonderful gesture by doing the needful during the Nov. 6, gubernatorial elections.
For the gubernatorial primaries, it assured Ndi Anambra that the election would be free and fair
