THE All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) says the party has concluded all the necessary plans and is ready for the February 3 by-election for the Ebonyi South Senatorial seat.

The state party Chairman, Mr Chukwudi Nwankwor, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki on Wednesday.

Nwankwo said that the party organised a free, fair and credible primary election on January 9.

Nwankwor said that the exercise  was witnessed by officials of INEC and party representatives from the national headquarters, Abuja.

“The primary was held at Amuro Mgbo Town Hall in Afikpo and our candidate, Mr Ifeanyi Eleje, was returned unopposed by the accredited 250 delegates and party members.

“Our candidate has the capacity to win.

“We will continue to educate the populace in the zone to vote for him and I believe he will come out victorious in the end.

“APGA has a good chance to win because our candidate comes from Afikpo North Local Government Area (LGA).

“Our strategy is to use Afikpo block with the major stakeholders in the zone to win.

“PDP is already struggling for the post at Ohaozara LGA.

“APC and LP will face each other at Onicha area.

“So, our candidate has the chance to win,” Nwankwor said.

According to him, APGA in Ebonyi is one big family, united for the progress of society.

“We must say that election is not a do or die affair.

“I, therefore, urge our colleagues in the other parties to play politics like a game of sports,” the APGA state chairman said.

NAN recalls that the Ebonyi South Senatorial seat became vacant, following the resignation of Sen. David Umahi, who took up appointment as the Minister of Works. (NAN)
