THE Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reinstate Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State.

A report from the Nigerian capital says the appellate court resolved all the seven issues raised in the appeal in favour of Jegede.

The ruling followed the order on Tuesday by Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Samuel Walter Nkanu Onnoghen, for the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal to proceed with the hearing of appeals in all applications concerning the PDP leadership and the PDP Ondo State crises.

This afternoon’s ruling means the end of the road for the governorship ambition of businessman Jimoh Ibrahim, whose name was used to substitute that of Jegede following the former’s emergence during a primary held by the Ali Odu Sheriff faction of PDP. — News Express
