Applicant docked for allegedly selling firearms

AN applicant, Yahaya Abdulrasheed was on Wednesday docked in an Upper Area Court, in Karu, Abuja for allegedly selling firearms to notorious criminals.
The police charged Abdulrasheed with criminal conspiracy, aiding and abetment.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Olanrewaju Osho, told the court that the defendant aided and abetted Raymond and Ado Graguzai with two others who are now at large to sell firearms to notorious criminals.
Osho said police investigation revealed that the firearms were used to rob in black spots in the FCT.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The prosecution said the matter was reported at the Police Force Intelligence Bureau by the Defence Intelligence Agency.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 85 of the penal Code.
The Judge, Malam Hassan Mohammed, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.
Mohammed ordered that the sureties must be residing within the jurisdiction of the court and their addresses must be verified by a court officer.
He adjourned the case until Nov. 14 for further hearing. (NAN)
