AN Area Court in Jos on Tuesday sentenced Ibrahim Ail , 20, to three months  in correctional centre for stealing 25 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also known as petrol.

The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the two count charge of trespass and theft and begged the court for leniency.

The Judge gave the convict an option of N 10,000 fine or 3 months imprisonment.

He also ordered the convict to pay a compensation of N 20, 000, to the complainant or six months imprisonment in default.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported at the A division police station on April 3, by Doris Gyang.

He said the complainant said the accused person, sometime in March, trespassed into her shop using a master key to open the locks of the shop and stole her 25 litres of PMS valued  N12,000.

The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation the convict confessed to have committed the act.

He said that the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN)
