GOV. Hope Uzodinma of Imo has called for support for the nation’s military as the fight against insecurity continues.
Uzodinma made the call shortly after laying a wreath in commemoration of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Heroes square, Owerri, on Friday.
He commended the military for painstaking efforts to secure lives and property of Nigerians as well as the nation’s territorial integrity.
The governor urged Nigerians to show love to families of the country’s fallen heroes as a way of honouring the deceased.
“We are gathered here today to remember our fallen heroes as well as encourage our gallant soldiers who are still in active service.
“We urge Nigerians to support and assist families of our fallen heroes and to remember our serving soldiers in our prayers,” he said.
He restated his administration’s commitment to better working conditions for military personnel.
In his remark, the commander, 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Brig.- Gen. H. I. Bature, thanked the governor for creating an enabling environment for the activities of the military in the state.
He pledged to sustained continued service delivery in line with extant laws.
