Asaba 2022: Kwara constitutes screening/trials committee

THE Kwara Sports Commission has set up a five-man screening/trials commitee to ensure that the best and medal prospective athletes are taken to the forthcoming National Sports Festival, tagged “Asaba 2022”.

Inaugurating the committee on Tuesday in Ilorin, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Malam Bola Mogaji, charged them to select the best athletes as it is was not going to be a jamboree.

The committee members are: Shehu Olusola, Director of Sports; Alhaja Adesoye, Head of Organising; Ibrahim Bako – Administrator Kwara Football Academy; Patience Lawal – Head of Coaching; and Bello Azeez.

Mogaji said that the screening/trials exercise would begin on Nov. 16, taking one sport after the other.

Meanwhile, Kwara would participate in 24 sports at the Festival; namely, Athletics – Able, Para and Deaf; Baseball; Softball; Boxing; Badminton; Cycling; Chess and Canoeing.

Others included Cricket, Dart, Football, Golf, Judo, Karate, Kickboxing, Swimming, Scrabble, Squash, Taekwondo, Traditional sport, Table tennis – Able , Para and Deaf, Weightlifting – Able, Powerlifting, Wushu Kunfu and Wrestling. (NAN)
