THE Oyo State House of Assembly has appealed to Gov. Abiola Ajimobi to provide financial support to the local governments in the state that were unable to pay their workers’ salaries.
The House, presided over by the Speaker, Mr Olagunju Ojo made the appeal on Tuesday.
It was during the plenary after adopting the resolutions in a motion moved by Mr Olafisoye Akinmoyede, lawmaker representing Lagelu State Constituency.
The lawmaker raised the issue in a motion entitled, “Need to Make Passionate Appeal to State Governor Abiola Ajimobi to consider palliative fund for local governments in the state that are unable to pay their workers”.
According to him, the affected workers are faced with serious hardship, adding that if not addressed, will in the long run affect their productivity among other consequences.
The Assembly commended the Governor for the approach he devised in clearing the backlog of salaries created by the drop in federal allocation. (NAN)
