ABIODUN Tobun, the member, representing Epe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, has urged teachers in the area to approach their job with diligence and commitment.

Tobun made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday following the resumption of academic duties after the Christmas holidays.

He said that the job of imparting knowledge on young people required patience, resilience and a strong sense of commitment to duty.

“The society wants to see that the children under your care are turning out well in both learning and character, so teachers should take their jobs seriously.

“The future of the society depends hugely on the training and upbringing we give to the children today. So the job of the teacher is a serious one,” he said.

He further said that the state government was committed towards developing the education sector in the interest of the society and the future.

“Every stakeholder should be involved in the campaign to strengthen the education system. It is a collective responsibility,” he said.

The lawmaker urged parents to play frontline role in the academic upbringing of the children by getting involved in their take-home assignments.

Tobun urged school children to take their academic activities seriously, saying,” always adhere to instructions, ask the right questions and be of good behaviour”(NAN)
