AMB. Isaac Kigbu, the President, Eggon Youth Movement (EYM) Worldwide, has described sports as a veritable tool for promoting unity and peaceful co-existence.

Kigbu, a philanthropist, stated this on Monday during the inauguration of EYM Indor Sports Centre in Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state.

He said that sports, apart from enhancing physical fitness, also promote love and tackle youth restiveness in the society.

“I have decided to provide this Indoor sports centre to keep our youths and other people busy as an idle man is a devil’s workshop.

“As this will also tackle youth restiveness and boost their fitness,” he said.

Kigbu assured of his continuous commitment to promote sporting activities among the youths.

“I have organised football competitions for the youths and supported sporting competitions at different levels.

“I will continue to do that in order to promote unity and peace among the youths and other Nigerians,” he said.

He appreciated Mr Ovey Bashayi, NNPP House of Representatives Candidate for Akwanga/Nassarawa Eggon and Wamba Federal Constituency, for identifying with the centre.

He also thanked youths and other well wishers for gracing the occasion and prayed God to grant their objectives of peaceful co-existence and physical fitness.

Kigbu however urged youths and other Nigerians to continue to live in unity and co-exist peacefully for the overall development of the country.

Inaugurating the centre, Bashayi commended Kigbu for providing the youths of the area with the social and sports centre.

He said that the gesture would promote unity and peace among the youths and other people of the area.

The politician pledged to give sporting activities, youths and women empowerment topmost priorities, if voted into the green chamber of the National Assembly in 2023.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Snookers, Drafts, Ludos and Whoot playing facilities, among other games, were provided at the centre. (NAN)
