THE Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA) Worldwide has appealed to its members and philanthropists to contribute positively to the development of Eggon Community Secondary School, Nassarawa Eggon in Nasarawa State.
Mr David Abuluya, the President of the association, made the call on Thursday during a stakeholders meeting of the association in Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state.
Abuluya said that addressing infrastructure deficit in the school was key in creating an enabling environment for learning and teaching.
“Which will also help to improve on the standard of education in this school as no society will achieve meaningful progress and development without sound education,” he said.
Abuluya, who is the Proprietor, Nacabs Polyechnic, Akwanga, Nasarawa state, said that he has decided to call for the meeting in order to discuss way forward on how to tackle the challenges facing the school among other issues.
“I have also decided to call for this meeting on the need for us to strengthen our unity and discuss how to mobilise our people and others to get PVCs.
“As the importance of unity and Permanent Voter Cards ( PVCs) could not be overwhelmed to societal development,” he said.
Abuluya urged members of the association and other Nigerians to obtain their PVCs in order to vote good leaders come 2023 and beyond.
The president told members of the association that he met only 13 students at the school on assumption of duty.
“When I was elected president of the association in November 2021, I met only 13 students in this school with infrastructure deficit.
“I have declared free education from Junior Secondary School (JSS) 1 to 3 in the school in order to give indigent children access to education, considering its importance to societal development.
“We thank God that we now have a total number of 628 students on ground due to the free education policy that I have declared from JSS one to three.
“I want to appeal to all of us and those not here, let’s join hands by contributing positively to the development of the school,” he said.
The president solicited for the support of all sons and daughters of Eggon nation in order to revive the dying community school and to enable him succeed.
Besides, he urged members of the association and other Nigerians to continue to embrace unity and co-exist peacefully with one another, irrespective of their affiliations for development to thrive.
Contributing, Chief Adams Makka-Nangba, the District Head of Wakama, Nasarawa state, among other stakeholders, appreciated the president for organising the meeting.
He noted that the meeting would promote unity and would also proffer solution to the challenges facing facing Eggon nation and the school. (NAN)
