ASUE Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for the 2024 governorship election in Edo State, has thanked his supporters for their dedication and sacrifices.

In his message after the result of the election was declared by INEC on Sunday, Ighodalo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his supporters for their overwhelming support despite facing numerous challenges.

Ighodalo thanked his supporters for believing in his vision and for their dedication, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the people of Edo State, who defied intimidation, violence and financial inducements to cast their votes for him.

He emphasized that his aspiration was not driven by the desire for power, but a genuine passion to serve the people and create a pathway to prosperity for all in Edo State.

Ighodalo described Saturday’s election as “one of our darkest moments”, marked by the “brazen theft of our mandate” and the “shameful subversion of the will of the people.”

However, he urged his supporters not to be discouraged, stating that “the illusory triumph of evil over good is only temporary”.

Ighodalo acknowledged the challenges faced during the election, including intimidation and violence and emphasized his commitment to creating a prosperous Edo State and urged supporters to remain united.

It will be recalled that Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate was declared the winner of the election.
