WE – Prof. Stella Chinyere Okunna, Dr. Patrick Obi and Val. Obienyem- are representing Mr. Peter Obi at the on-going synod.

The Bishop, Rt. Rev. Johnson Ekwe is in control. As usual, saying his mind about the nation the way it is. Our Lord bishop spent a lot of time praying for the people of God in profound acts of thanksgiving.

Resembling Bishop Jonas Benson of the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi in physique and physiognomy, he spoke disappointingly about the conduct of the last presidential election. His charge was at it too, for there he prayed to God to grant the judiciary the courage to sort out the mess in the spirit of justice and fairness.

Should I say one more thing your Lordship said? He made it clear that he would spit and fight any Igbo man who brazenly and without justification fight another Igbo man at the national level.

As far as I am concerned, the climax of the synod thanksgiving was when the Catholic Bishop of Aguleri, Bishop Denis Isiuzor entered. Jokingly, Bishop Ekwe said that out of Bishopric comradeship, call it esprit de corps, for he was a retired soldier, that he would pause his speech and recognize his presence of his brother bishop. It was chilling, those that are emotional must have cried at the moving ecclesiastical drama full of lessons and, as the Deputy Governor of Anambra state said, “full demonstration of ecumenism.”

Bishop Ekwe, whose speech was raced by his background, example being “ Help me salute this and that…” Is very happy because he also added a year today.

If after watching the bishopric dance as attached, between Bishops Ekwe and Isiuzor and you are not moved, you must either be “Aristotelean sub-human or a god.” What a man, what a lesson! That gesture should be taken beyond the dance.

A.
