Athletics association holds U-15 trials ahead of NYG Delta 2023

THE Kaduna State Athletics Association (KAA) has called for entries for a one-day U-15 trials slated for Aug. 5 in Kaduna.

The event is billed to hold ahead of the 2023 National Youth Games scheduled for Asaba, Delta State.

The Chairman of the association, Sani Abbas, disclosed this in a statement in Kaduna on Monday.

Abbas stated that invitation for entries for the trials had been extended to state coaches, principals and games masters of secondary schools.

Others included state and local athletics clubs as well as sports academies for the track and field events.

He further stated that the events to be competed for included 100m boys and girls, 200m boys and girls and 400m boys & girls, shot put, high jump and long jump (all boys & girls).

He added that there is also room for special sports, such as 100m, 200m and 400m for deaf male and female athletes.

“KAA, in conjunction with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, invites entries to a one-day U-15 Athletics Trials slated for  Aug.5, 2023 at Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

“This is to enable the state have good representation in the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta state.

“Participants are advised to come with their National Identity Number, birth certificate and two passport photographs.

“Only athletes that are 15 as at December 31, 2023 are eligible for the trials.

“Entries to reach the secretariat on or before August 3, 2023,” Abbas stated, adding that no entries would be accepted at the venue of the event. (NAN)
