Attorney-General commends NAPTIP for effectiveness since inception in Anambra

THE Anambra State Attorney-General, Obianuju Nworgu, has commended members of National Agency for prohibition of Trafficking in persons, NAPTIP, for a marvelous job done within a short period that the Agency has been established in Anambra State.
Nworgu said during an interview with the Information Officer that NAPTIP was established in Anambra State in November, 2020 with the approval of Gov. Willie Obiano.
The commissioner stresses that NAPTIP takes charge of fighting human trafficking; coordination and enforcement of all other laws on trafficking in persons and other related offences.
It also adopted effective measures in the prevention and eradication of trafficking as well as investigating and prosecution of all cases of human trafficking, child abuse, child labour and sexual harassments.
The AG also noted that NAPTIP in the state recorded not less than 20 cases and held public enlightenment and awareness campaigns through seminars, workshops and publications, radio, television programmes aimed at educating the public on the dangers of trafficking in persons.
The AG was represented during the interview by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Ngozi Iwouno.
The Anambra State Commander, NAPTIP, Judith Ibadi, had lamented over a lot of challenges facing her office.
She explained that they require more office accommodation in the state, especially, where they could keep the victims.
According to her, poor funding is another challenge facing the agency.
