Education
AUCHI Polytechnic, Edo, on Friday matriculated 10,090 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The matriculating students, according to the Rector of the institution, Dr Salisu Umar, were admitted for National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) courses in the Polytechnic.
Speaking at the institution’s 43rd Matriculation ceremony, Umar said the newly admitted students were among the lucky ones from the thousands who applied to study different ND and HND programmes.
“Today, we matriculate a total number of 10,090 students out of which 5,407 of them will be studying Diploma (ND).
“Higher National Diploma (HND) students are, 4,390 while 293 have been admitted to study degree programmes.
“I urge you not to lose the golden opportunity of acquiring polytechnic education,” Umar said.
The rector congratulated the new students and urged them to face their studies squarely.
“While congratulating you, I wish to draw your attention to the fact that this is the first stage of your intellectual journey through this great polytechnic.
“It is my hope that at the end of your programme, you will make a successful and triumphant exist from this polytechnic,” he said.
The rector said that the institution had zero tolerance for cultism and advised them to shun all forms of social vices.
“The management frowns at membership of cult groups.
“Our matriculating students, to obtain a certificate in Auchi Polytechnic, you must be found worthy in learning and character.
“At all cost, shun all forms of social vices such as examination malpractice, sexual misbehaviour, fraudulent acts, cultism and other social vices that can destroy your future.
“Be reminded that the oath you will take today is to be obedient to the rector and all those in authority and to be of good conduct throughout your stay in the polytechnic,” he said. (NAN)
