Austrian police searched the homes of 40 people suspected of having spread neo-Nazi propaganda online, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.
Mobile phones, electronic data carriers, and Nazi memorabilia were seized during the police operations that were carried out across the country.
“All of the crime scenes were in the virtual world,’’ the ministry said in a statement, citing WhatsApp groups, Facebook, and online gaming chats.
Austria’s government coalition of conservatives and Greens has made the fight against online hate speech one of its priorities. (dpa/NAN)
