NIGERIAN author Ndifreke Ukpong is set to make a return to the literary scene with his latest novel, A Future In Chains.

Known for his commitment to addressing pressing social issues through storytelling, Ukpong’s newest release delves into the challenges faced by women in patriarchal societies.

“A Future In Chains” centers on the story of a widow who, under societal pressures, is compelled to marry her late husband’s brother.

With this compelling narrative, Ukpong explores the complexities of gender inequality, personal freedom, and the far-reaching effects of cultural traditions on women’s lives.

Addressing his hiatus from publishing, Ukpong shared that his time away was dedicated to crafting work that would make a lasting impact.

“Writing, for me, is about more than words—it’s about creating change,” he stated.

True to his mission, A Future In Chains is designed not just to entertain but to ignite

meaningful conversations around social justice and equality.

Spanning 102 pages, the novel will be made freely available to readers in an effort to reach and resonate with a broad audience.

14th November, 2024.
