AuthorAID to launch National Research Hub Nigeria in YABATECH

THE International Network for Advancing Science and Policy (INASP), and AuthorAID UK in collaboration with TETFund Center of Excellence in Skills, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development, Yaba College of Technology, have concluded arrangement to launch a National Research Hub in the country.

The Public Relation Officer/Deputy Registrar of YABATECH, Mr Joe Ejiofor, in a statement on Tuesday, said the hub would enhance research capacity and expand the scope of research in the institution.

It said a ceremony would be held to launch the research hub on Dec. 5 at the Yusuf Grillo Auditorium, YABATECH.

“The AuthorAID National Research Hub will offer support and a platform for exchange of ideas for research a cross various disciplines and will help to further strengthen tie with developmental partners in Nigeria.

” This initiative is made possible by the AuthorAID seed grant won by Dr Funmilyo Doherty, a Chief lecturer in the Department of of Biology Science and a research officer of TETFubd Centre of Excellence.

” It is expected to enhance possibilities for collaborations between different institutions and fields build expertise, enhance research capacity and extending the scope of current research in the institutions.

“The Hub is open to researchers in and outside the country,” it said.

It added that the hub leadership structure will be headed by Dr Funmilayo Doherty, who will serve as the National Coordinator, while other zonal coordinators have been appointed to head the various zones.

TETFund Center of Excellence in Skills, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainable Development is a unit in Yabatech with a mandate to build capacity in applied/innovative research and skills development. (NAN)
