Average price of kerosene increases in April — NBS

THE National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), said the average price per litre paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased to N316.26 in April from N303.94 recorded in March.

The bureau said this in its “National Household Kerosene Price Watch (April 2019)’’ released on its website in Abuja.

The NBS said the price of kerosene increased by 4.06 per cent month-on month and 13.57 per cent year-on-year in the period under review.

It said states with the highest average price per litre of kerosene include Plateau (N361.90), Anambra (N353.47), and Enugu (N353.33).

It also named states with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene to be Gombe (N269.04), Lagos (N272.02) and Nasarawa (N287.45).

Similarly, the bureau said the average price per gallon paid by consumers for Kerosene increased to N1,211.99 in April from N1,190.89 recorded in March.

It said the average price per gallon of kerosene increased by 1.77 per cent month-on-month and 24.20 per cent year-on-year in the period under review.

It said states with the highest average price per gallon of kerosene were Gombe (N1,361.54), Enugu (N1,322.73)  and Jigawa (N1,321.43).

The NBS also said the states with the lowest average price per gallon of kerosene were Bayelsa (N1,031.67), Akwa Ibom (N1,071.36) and Delta (N1,071.36).

The NBS said in arriving at the report, field work was done by more than 700 NBS staff in all states of the federation supported by supervisors who were monitored by internal and external observers.

It said the NBS audit team subsequently conducted randomly selected verification of the prices recorded. (NAN)
