Africa, Economy
THE Founder and CEO of Cool Plus Ltd, Ade Awujoola, says he will use his experience of over 38 years in the industry to revolutionize air -conditioning and refrigeration in Nigeria.
Speaking at the official handover of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, RAC training equipment to RAC training Centres under the Hydrochlorofluorocarbons, phase out Management Plan HPMP, Project in Lagos by the Minister of State for Environment, Iziaq Adekunle Salako, Awujoola expressed gratitude to the UNDP and the government of Italy for partnering in the project. He stated that the challenge before him is to give back to Nigeria what the country had given to him.
According to him, climate change and the depletion of the ozone layer are issues that concern everybody and added that the challenge we have been having over the years is our inability to raise a dynamic, smart and skilled workforce that will be able to help us in climate mitigation so that our environment can be sustainable.
“Every one of us here knows that the field of refrigeration and air-conditioning is not known to be an industry domain in Nigeria and so it is not professionalized.
“But what UNDP has done through the ministry of environment would help us to raise a workforce that are skilled and knowledgeable and are conscious of best practices in such a way that we can protect our beautiful health.”
“Having said that, I will also want to thank all the people who are here today particularly the training centres, I have committed myself to them before today. And I say that this is beyond what government is doing. It is what I am going to do.
“I am going to work with them and I am going to bring my 38 years of experience in the field of refrigeration and air-conditioning to support Nigerians, to support every technician to make them understand the essence of best practice, so that we can help together to protect our beautiful world.
Realnews reports that Cool Plus Ltd is an established Refrigeration and Air-conditioning incubator where technicians of the 21st Century and beyond will be produced to help create and enhance cooling champions for the sustainable world.
