Badagry council boss distributes 8,000 exercise books, uniforms to pupils

THE Chairman, Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr Joseph Gbenu, on Friday distributed 8,000 free books and uniforms to pupils in primary schools situated in the council area.

Speaking during the exercise, Gbenu said that the ‘Back to School’ initiative was aimed at supporting the less privileged and encouraging academic excellence.

“We want to enhance our pupils’ academic performance and provide them with a better future.

“As part of the project, each school will receive 1,000 free exercise books and uniforms for pupils from Primary two to six.

“This is also to assist parents in providing learning materials for their children,” he said.

 According to him, eight primary schools were benefitting from the project.

 Gbenu urged parents and guardians to always ensure that their wards study whatever they were taught in school.

Mr Olawale Ajadi, Head Teacher, Methodist Primary School, Enuko, said the free exercise books and uniforms would greatly impact the pupils’ learning experience and motivate them.

Ajadi commended the chairman for assisting pupils, parents and teachers in the schools.

According to him, the project is expected to positively impact over 8,000 students, fostering a conducive learning environment and promoting academic success.

He said the chairman’s commitment to education and community development aligned with the LCDA’s mission to improve the lives of Badagry-West residents.

Master Semako Sewanu, a primary four pupil of  Methodist Primary School, Enuko, thanked the chairman for giving them the exercise books and uniforms.

Sewanu said he received six exercise books and a set of uniform.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that schools that benefited from the back to school project include Methodist Primary School, Enuko, Methodist Primary School,  Kweme, and Methodist Primary School, Sawa,

Others are, Local Authority Primary School, Apa, Our Lady of Fatima, Ganyingbo, St. Peter Primary School, Agonrin Sea Beach, Salvation Army Primary School, Anlo Boglo and Methodist Primary School, Ashipa. (NAN)
