AMB. Masudur Rahman, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria, says Bangladesh community will be having some cultural exchange collaborations with Nike Arts Gallery.
Rahman who disclosed this during his visit to the gallery in Lagos on Thursday, said the collaboration entailed engaging Nigerians and Bangladesh citizens in art workshops.
He said this would be during the Bangladesh Victory Day Celebration in December 2022 and March 2023.
According to him, some form of billateral engagements will also be involved which will be revealed later.
” We plan to have some cultural exchange collaborations with Nike art gallery in December, during our victory day and sometimes in March next year.
” We are working toward that, we look forward to achieving that because Nike has been a wonderful lady of art with great intellect, wisdom and integrity.
” She has kept the Nigerian artiste society firm together and we are happy she is doing same in Abuja,” he said.
The Ambassador expressed excitement with the rate at which waste materials were manipulated and transformed into various art works used as home decoratives, sourvenirs and all.
He said if this was improved on, it would go a long way in boosting the Nigerian economy, rendering the environment clean as well as impact the citizens positively.
” I see tremendous synergy between Bangladesh and Nigeria because we have very dominant arts and crafts, our people are resilient, hardworking like Nigerians.
” Bangladesh is a country with unique values instilled in our culture, same with Nigerians.”
Earlier, Nike Okundaye welcomed the Bangladesh team as they were conducted round the art gallery with detailed explanation of the content of most of the art works.
Okundaye said Nigerians are hospitable, ready and willing to accommodate tourists from across the world.
