Bauchi Emir lauds NDE on skills acquisition training

THE Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Suleiman Adamu, has lauded the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) for engaging the youth on various skills acquisition trainings in the state.
The Emir made this known in Bauchi on Monday at the inauguration of a week-long training of youth and women in Bauchi on goat rearing and production.
The training also included post-sustainable agricultural development by NDE in the state.
The Emir, who is also the Chairman, Bauchi State Council of Traditional Rulers, was represented by Malam Zubairu Aliyu, a traditional title holder in the Bauchi Emirate.
He said that the job which the NDE Director-General, Malam Abubakar Fikpo, was doing in ensuring that youths are gainfully engaged in one skill or the others could not be overemphasised.
“These are very laudable programmes and the types being expected to be implemented by relevant job creation agencies.
“This is because it enlightens the youths on various ways becoming self-employed and shun over-dependency on white-collar jobs.
“The directorate’s resolve towards job provision for youth and women in this state is highly commendable.
“I am highly appreciative of the efforts of NDE because within two or three months, they organised various skills acquisition trainings for the teaming youths in the state to assist them to be self employed,” he said.
The Emir called on the youth to keep embracing such programmes so as to become employers of labour, adding that the time of being spoon-fed is over.
He further called on parents to ensure that their children are engaged in useful ventures, either agriculture or through other skills.
He explained that this would make them not to become a nuisance to their parents, the society and the country at large.
Also speaking, NDE Director-General, Malam Abubakar Fikpo, said that 100 participants were selected from across the 20 local government areas of the state.
He explained that 50 participants were selected for the post-sustainable agricultural development training and 50 for the goats production training.
Represented by the NDE State Coordinator, Mr Ali Yaya, the D-G urged the participants to be very serious and attentive.
He said anyone who did not attend the training would not be considered when the time for selection of participants for enhancement to boost their production comes.
He added that the trainees would be introduced to various business trainings that would open them to identifying and approaching various sources of funding to access funds.
One of the participants, Hanatu Zakari, appreciated the NDE for the ‘kind gesture’ and promised to make effective use of whatever knowledge she acquired during the training.
