THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), says it has embarked on sensitisation of motorists on alternative routes to neighbouring states following the collapsed of Bauchi – Gombe highway.

FRSC Sector Commander in charge of Bauchi State, Patrick Ikaba disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Bauchi.

NAN reports that the road collapsed due to flooding resulting from heavy downpour on Sunday.

The situation forced some of the motorists travelling from the Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba to Abuja and other parts of the country to take alternative route through Gombe – Dukku -Darazo -Bauchi road.

He said the Corps had provided cordon tapes, reflective cones, deployed personnel at 50 metres to the affected area to control traffic and avert accident.

“We are ensuring safety at the washed off point under rehabilitation, and we have provided red flags at 50 to 100 metres away from the scene.

“This is done in order to alert on coming motorists of the danger ahead,” he said.

Ikaba further called on all motorists plying the road to be patient as the site engineers had promised that the road would become free by end of the week. (NAN)
