BAYELSA Queens Football Club of Yenagoa have been named the Fair Play award winners at the just-concluded 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League (CAFWCL).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Nigerian champions finished third in the tournament.

This was after they secured a 1-0 win against Simba Ladies of Tanzania in their third-place match on Saturday.

But they went on to pick the Fair Play award to add to their collection before heading home.

NAN reports that Bayelsa Queens missed out on a place in the final after losing 0-1 in their semi-final game against ASFAR of Morocco on Wednesday.

ASFAR claimed the title after a convincing 4-0 demolition of defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the final match on Sunday.

Meanwhile, ASFAR forward Jraidi was named Woman of the Match for the third time in the competition, following her remarkable treble against the Cup holders.

ASFAR went on to receive 400,000 dollars as Cup winners, while runners-up Mamelodi Sundowns took home 250,000 dollars.

The two losing semi-finalists, Bayelsa Queens and Simba Ladies, received 200,000 U.S. dollars each.
