REV. Fr. Gabriel Dung, Assistant Parish Priest of St Finberrs’ Catholic Church, Rayfield, Jos, has advised leaders in the country to be fair and just at all times.
Dung, who gave the advice in his sermon on Sunday in Jos, maintained that Nigeria was passing through difficult times owing to injustice in social stratification.
He charges Christians, especially those occupying public positions to be exemplary in the discharge of their duties.
The cleric, who decried the spate of injustice at work places, homes, schools and other places in the society, cautioned that God hates such practices.
”Part of the challenges affecting the growth of this nation is the lack of justice and fairness, especially on the part of our leaders
”One of the reason God was angry with the people of Israel was because there was injustice among the people and this is exactly what we are seeing in our generation.
”So, I am calling on us all to shun injustice and embrace justice and fairness in our dealings with God and fellow humans.
”We must put selfishness aside and support each other, particularly the less privileged ones and that make our society better,” he advised.
Dung also called on leaders at all levels to be accountable to God and the people they are serving, stressing that such move attracts the people’s trust on the leader.
The cleric, however, advised Christians to pray for leaders, adding that leadership comes with a lot of challenges.
The priest also advised Christians to desist from cheating others just to maximise profit. (NAN)
