THE Director-General (DG) of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Fadah, has advised the 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream I corps members posted to Gombe State to report suspicious characters while in camp.

Fadah gave the advice while declaring the 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Orientation Course open on Tuesday in Amada community of Akko Local Government of Gombe State.

Fadah stated that while adequate arrangements had been made to ensure that corps members were secured throughout the service year, they were expected to be security conscious while in camp.

Fadah, who was represented by Mrs Ada Imoni, the State Coordinator of the scheme in Gombe State, said the scheme had secured collaborations with government at all levels, security agencies and other stakeholders towards the security of all corps members.

“You are strongly advised to be security conscious at all times, and to report any suspicious characters or activities around you to the appropriate authorities,” he said.

While tasking corps members to guard their conducts throughout the service year, the DG enjoined them to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the NYSC Act and the NYSC Bye-Laws.

“I implore you to sustain the high level of discipline and enthusiasm you have demonstrated so far, especially by remaining compliant with the camp rules and regulations,” he said.

Fadah also cautioned them to avoid the temptation of engaging in cultism, drug abuse and other social vices.

He called on the corps members to avail themselves of the opportunity that the NYSC presented by participating actively in all the camp activities towards improving their wellbeing after the service year.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 932 Batch “C” Stream I corps members comprised 493 males and 439 females. (NAN)
