BERLINE is moving to stage two of an emergency plan to accommodate refugees, an official responsible for integration said on Tuesday.

Katja Kipping, Berlin’s senator for integration, labour and social affairs, said more and more refugees were arriving in the German capital and there were hardly any free places left in public facilities.

The plan is meant to speed up the procedures for assigning refugee accommodation.

Kipping is considering setting up a large emergency shelter for thousands of people.

Places for up to 4,000 people would have to be found in a very short time in order to defuse the situation somewhat and avert homelessness among refugees. (dpa/NAN)
